MASSAGE THERAPY Testimonials:

"I was referred to Heather by one of my co-workers. I have had fibromyalgia for over 20 years, and as most people with fibromyalgia do, I have tried many remedies, taken many pills, seen many doctors and still my days were spent in pain.  I suffer from severe bouts of Neuropathy as well.  For quite some time I had hobbled around as my left foot was hurting so bad. I had a massage appt with Heather and I told her how much pain I was in and that walking was nearly impossible, especially because of the pain in my left foot.  Well Heather worked her "magic" and I can honestly say that I was sceptical that my foot would get better. About two days after my massage with Heather, my husband commented that I was no longer limping.  I stopped in my tracks and was amazed that he was right, the pain was gone...and it has not come back. I can honestly state that since I started seeing Heather I am feeling so much better and she has my highest recommendation. In my books Heather is a credit to her profession."

What is CranioSacral Therapy?
Discovered by John E. Upledger in the 1980's, CranioSacral Therapy is a light-touch massage modality that works on the Central Nervous System.

As we calm the nervous system, the body relaxes and becomes softer. By listening to the body and helping it to release restrictions and "issues from the tissues", we help to bring balance and space to body thereby improving health and vitality.

How does it work?
This therapy works with the flow of cerebral spinal fluid inside the dural tube (the covering around the brain and spinal cord). By feeling for the rhythm of this fluid, we can feel for areas of injury or restriction in the body. Using very light pressure and direction of energy, we encourage those restrictions to soften.

What can I expect from a session? CranioSacral sessions are like massage, although more sublte and gentle. Sessions are usually performed fully clothed. Using specific techniques and hand positions, light pressure is applied and the tissues are encouraged to release tension and become softer.

Sometimes the client will feel the body tingle or twitch, sometimes there will be a sensation of floating and complete relaxation or softness, and sometimes there will be a sensation of warmth.
Depending on the restriction or issue there can also be some type of emotional release (i.e. laughter or tears).

Because they work with the issues behind the physical tension; the results of a CranioSacral session are often more wholistic, profound, effective, and longer-lasting than traditional massage therapy.
